Definition

In the investment world, a Unicorn refers to a startup company that has reached a valuation of $1 billion or more. The term was used for the first time by Aileen Lee in 2013 to describe their rarity. Unicorns are typically associated with the tech industry, where rapid growth and scalability are feasible.
